This set celebrates 25 years since currency reform in Ukraine. A country’s currency is one of the most important attributes of its statehood. That is why 2 September 1996 – the day when the domestic currency of Ukraine, the hryvnia, was issued into circulation – has gone down in Ukrainian history as a momentous date. The hryvnia is a successor of the state traditions of Kyiv Rus and the Ukrainian People’s Republic. Today, the NBU’s banknote and coin production is modern and highly technological, and the central bank stands ready to supply the Ukrainian economy with high quality banknotes and coins of the required denominations. The set comprises low-denomination 10 and 50 kopiika coins; 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnia circulation coins; and a commemorative medal that celebrates 25 years since currency reform in Ukraine. The 10 and 50 kopiika coins are made of brass-plated low-carbon steel, the 1 and 2 hryvnia coins are made of nickel-plated low-carbon steel, the 5 and 10 hryvnia coins are made of nickel-plated zinc-based alloy, and the commemorative medal is made of nickel silver.
Retail price, Hryvnas: 416

Obverse of the medal: against the backdrop of a stylized guilloche pattern are Ukraine`s small coat of arms (in the center), the legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine) (above), the medal’s issue year – 2021 (below), and the mint mark of the NBU’s Banknote Printing and Minting Works (to the right of the issue year).
Reverse of the medal: there’s a stylized Kyiv-type hryvnia; the left part of the hryvnia is matt and the right part is smooth with the following legend: ГРОШОВІЙ РЕФОРМІ В УКРАЇНІ/25 РОКІВ (25 years since currency reform in Ukraine); to the left of the hryvnia are elements that symbolize the transformation of the financial and monetary systems: a microchip (above) and a binary code (below); to the right, against a smooth background, are modern hryvnia circulation coins.
