The coin is dedicated to the birth centenary of Serhii Vsekhsviatskyi (1905 - 1984), an outstanding Ukrainian astronomical scientist. As the founder of the department for astronomy in the Kyiv national university (1939), Vsekhsviatskyi played a significant role in development and popularizing of the astronomy not only in Ukraine but in the whole world during 1939 - 1984. In 1960 Serhii Vsekhsviatskyi made a presumption on the presence of a cup around the Jupiter, which was really discovered in 1979; He proved the presence of the `solar wind`, which used to cause magnetic storms and had developed a dynamic theory of the`Solar corona`.

On the coin obverse there is depicted a conventionalized depiction of the `solar wind` and a semi-circular inscription Україна (Ukraine) (left). Underneath there is depicted 2005, the coin issue year and the small National emblem of Ukraine; below - 2/ГРИВНІ (2 / hryvnia) and the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine (on the right).
On the coin reverse there is a half face portrait of Vsekhsviatsky on the background of a starry sky and a transiting comet (left); to the right there are semi-circular inscriptions СЕРГІЙ ВСЕХСВЯТСЬКИЙ (Serhii Vsekhsviatskyi) 1905-1984.
